BYU lands first commit of 2020 recruiting class in former Weber and UVU transfer Spencer Johnson

Spencer Johnson announced his commitment to BYU Friday morning, making the 6-foot-5 redshirt sophomore the first commit of the Cougars’ 2020 recruiting class.

Johnson started his collegiate career at Weber State, which he signed to before his church mission. After half of his freshman season in Ogden, Johnson transferred to Utah Valley, where he redshirted. Last summer, Johnson transferred to Salt Lake Community College.

When he comes to BYU in 2020, Johnson will still have three years left of eligibility.

Johnson was a 2-star recruit out of high school in 2016, where he averages 19.7 points and 7.3 rebounds per game his senior season at American Fork.
