Letter: Moore and Maloy must think Utah voters can’t see through their rhetoric

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) U.S. Representatives Celeste Maloy, Blake Moore and Gov. Spencer Cox, conclude a meeting with, federal, philanthropic, scientific, business and conservation leaders for a Great Salt Lake Roundtable focused on the next phase of coordinated action and partnership, Friday, May 29, 2026.

If you have watched TV lately, you have likely been swamped with political ads from Blake Moore and Celeste Maloy. They both claim to have the complete support of President Trump. What they don’t say is that Trump has also had their complete support. Moore even goes so far as to claim that he is fighting corruption in Congress. Fine, but he has turned a totally blind eye to the massive corruption in the White House. He has been completely silent about the self-dealing, the pardons of fraud perpetrators and insurrectionists, and the unconstitutional actions of the most corrupt president in American history.

Both Moore and Maloy boast about the tax cuts they have given Utah voters. What they don’t say is that those tax cuts came from their support for Trump’s massively unpopular Big Beautiful Bill, which gave tax cuts primarily to the wealthy while cutting Medicaid and SNAP benefits for the poor and needy. This bill should really be called the Big Ugly Billionaire Bill.

Ask yourself why any politician would tie his or her campaign to a president whose popularity is far underwater, and not just under any water. This water is as polluted and toxic as Trump’s new algae-filled reflecting pool. Moore and Maloy must think Utah voters are blind. If you vote for them or any of their fellow Republicans, you are voting for Trump enablers. We don’t need any more of that in this country. Trump has done more than enough damage already, but Moore and Maloy want him to continue to destroy our country. So, please see through the deceptive rhetoric.
