Republican U.S. Rep. Blake Moore hopes to head off Democrat Peter Crosby and a field of third-party and independent candidates in the race to represent the newly drawn 2nd Congressional District.

Moore, who currently represents the state’s 1st Congressional District, is Utah’s only member of congressional leadership. He was first elected in 2020 and ran for reelection in the new 2nd District after a yearslong court fight over the drawing of Utah’s congressional districts resulted in new districts last year.

A Salt Lake Tribune review of the new districts found that Republicans had a 33.5-point advantage in the 2nd District, which spans much of the northern part of the state.

Ahead of a debate between Moore and Crosby last month, a Utah Debate Commission poll found Moore leading Crosby by just five points, 39% to 34%.

Results in the race are not released yet.
