Two people have been arrested in connection to the killing of a Utah woman whose body was found Aug. 23 in a remote area of western Iron County.

A 27-year-old woman from Missouri and a 30-year-old man from North Carolina are being held in a Barstow, Calif., jail pending extradition to Utah.

According to police, the body of Stevie Shay Wilkerson, 26, was found two weeks after she was reported missing from the St. George area. Police have not released any information about how she died but determined that she was a homicide victim. With the assistance of the Utah Department of Public Safety’s Statewide Information and Analysis Center, the man and woman were identified and traced to Barstow.

Police there located the pair at a motel and arrested them without incident. They are currently being held on an arrest warrant for a stolen vehicle and, according to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, “additional charges are pending.”
