A man hiking in Big Cottonwood Canyon died Wednesday after he fell about 50 feet.
According to Unified Police, Wade Joseph Meade, 29, of Park City, suffered head injuries and possible broken ribs when he fell in the area above Storm Mountain. Authorities were notified of the fall about 3:15 p.m., and search and rescue crews responded. They called in a helicopter to airlift the victim off the mountain, but he died on the way to the hospital.
Unified police originally reported Meade fell 15 feet and later corrected that to 50 feet.
