Basketball fans and food lovers have until Oct. 14 to apply for the ultimate job: 2019 Official NBA Food Tester.

The person who gets the post will travel to NBA arenas, sampling hot dogs, pretzels, tacos, nachos, burgers, pizzas and sandwiches in pursuit of the best signature dish.

Besides getting game tickets and an allowance to buy food, the tester also will receive $500 from Pickswise, an online sports site and the contest sponsor. The NBA is not affiliated with this promotion.

The winner also will report about their experience across social media channels, and decide which team rules the roost with the best food in the NBA, Jake Apperley, a Pickswise spokesman, said in a news release. “Sports and food go hand in hand. We want to hire someone to finally help settle all of the debate, and lock down the best food in the NBA.”

The Toronto Raptors are the reigning champs not only on the court but also in the concourses with a prime rib and turkey sandwich, he said. But there’s plenty of competition, from the Carnegie Deli selection at Madison Square Garden to French dip banh mi at Oracle Arena.

The food at Utah’s Vivint Smart Home Arena is a clear contender, with its beef brisket from R&R Barbecue, the tri-tip Italian beef sandwich from Cubby’s and tacos and enchiladas from El Chubasco.

To enter, visit the competition page. Entrants must be 21 or older and can enter only once. Deadline is Oct. 14 at 3 p.m. MST. The winner will be contacted by Oct. 15.
