Utah Jazz forward Jaren Jackson has suffered a torn MCL in his right knee, a team source confirmed to The Salt Lake Tribune.

The former All-Star forward will miss at least six weeks, the team said.

Jackson suffered the injury in the second quarter of Utah’s loss to Memphis on Monday.

Jackson’s absence is a big blow for the Jazz. He’s the Jazz’s starting center right now and a key cog in Utah’s defense.

The former Defensive Player of the Year has averaged 16.3 points, five rebounds and two assists in four games this season.

Now, Utah’s big-man depth will be even more tested.

Lauri Markkanen is day-to-day with a wrist injury that forced him to leave Monday’s loss early, the Jazz said.

Utah is already without Jusuf Nurkic due to a plantar plate tear.
