Spring sports and activities at Utah high schools have been delayed further.

The Utah High School Activities Association announced Tuesday that the spring schedule will be delayed until at least May 1, in accordance with Governor Gary Herbert’s directive he gave during a press conference Monday that schools extend their soft closures.

“In consultation with board directives and information provided by state public health officials, the UHSAA has suspended spring activities and athletics, including practice and team gatherings, to properly fulfill best practices regarding protection of students and the general public,” the UHSAA said in a statement. “More information will be sent to member schools and/or districts as it becomes available.”

The association initially suspended spring sports and activities for at least two weeks due to COVID-19.
