Letter: Sen. Romney can’t lead

(Francisco Kjolseth | Tribune file photo) Sen. Mitt Romney speaks with the editorial board of the Salt Lake Tribune on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019.

In his Sept. 3 letter, Jack Lauder states, “The future of the world is at stake. If Romney takes the lead, others will follow.”

The problem with that statement is that Sen. Mitt Romney can’t lead. He is a flip-flopping man who would do anything that benefits him and him alone.

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
