I keep reading articles where someone was upset because wearing their Make America Great Again hat put them in an uncomfortable spot.

I'd like to encourage everyone to let them be, because that way we know who they are and when they're around. Wouldn't want to get sucker punched myself for speaking ill of the commander in chief.

In the movie “Inglourious Basterds,” Lt. Aldo Raine (played by Brad Pitt) doesn't like the idea of Nazis taking off their uniforms after the war, so he carves a swastika in each of their foreheads so folks will know their dirty pasts.

This is certainly too extreme, especially by the left’s standards, so let’s just encourage them to never take them off. Wouldn't want a snowflake carved in my forehead.

More importantly, when Donald Trump goes down (Mueller report coming soon) I'd really like to say to all his supporters that you really should never take that cap off. Wear it every day until it falls apart.

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
