Letter: Where is the outcry when troops move south?

(Eric Gay | The Associated Press) Members of the U.S Army place razor wire for a temporary encampment for the troops near the U.S.-Mexico International bridge, Sunday, Nov. 4, 2018, in Donna, Texas.

A few years ago, an outcry erupted over a military exercise called Jade Helm 15, because 1,200 of our elite armed forces were training in the Western states.

People claimed it was an attempt to remove weapons from private citizens and turn them (weapons or citizens?) over to China.

Groups formed to follow the soldiers around. The Texas governor sent his National Guard in to watch as well.

Now we have between 5,000 and 50,000 armed forces members headed to Texas, and not a whimper of anti-government hysteria.

What has changed in three years? A race-baiting vogue, and a peek into the shadowy corners of our nation’s soul?
