Letter: Word is out — Utah might be the most beautiful state. Isn‘t that worth protecting?

Probably copyright issues at work here, but it needed to be said. Catching up on a backlog of car magazines, this from the July 2017, 70th-anniversary issue of “Road & Track” by Peter Egan, editor-at-large and world traveler:

“Utah, as I always remember but fail to recall in scope, has one knockout vista after another, with an ever-changing landscape that looks like the work of a stage-set designer with a degree in geology. It might be the most beautiful, varied state we have.”

Also might be something worth protecting and preserving for future generations of the human race, not monetized for the short-term gratification of CEOs and corporations.

Support free news for Utah

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources. As a nonprofit newsroom, we rely on support from people who believe it matters. Make a donation today to fund local news that serves Utah communities.
