A man in Sandy is in custody after he told police that he killed his wife “in a fit of rage” Friday night.

Sandy Police officers responded to a 911 call around 9 p.m. from a 57-year-old man who told dispatchers that he had just killed his wife, police say.

Upon arriving at the home on Montana Drive near 11400 South, officers found the adult woman in the upstairs bedroom with “obvious signs of trauma,” according to a probable cause statement. She was confirmed dead at the scene.

The man was taken to the Sandy City Police Department, where he told investigators he became angry and killed his wife after being read his Miranda rights.

The victim’s name, age and other identifying information has not been released at this time.

The man was booked in the Salt Lake County Jail early Saturday on suspicion of first-degree murder. He is being held without bail.
