A Florida woman is facing charges after she allegedly crossed a double yellow line and caused a head-on collision in Kane County, killing a Utah woman.

Nthenya Maingi Patrick, 37, of Miami Beach, was charged in 6th District Court with manslaughter, a second-degree felony; and reckless driving, a class B misdemeanor.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, on Sept. 23 Patrick was speeding in her Toyota Highlander while traveling west on U.S. 89. She attempted to pass a semitruck in a no-passing zone while approaching the crest of a hill. As she moved into the eastbound lane, she collided head-on with a Volkswagen near milepost 35.

The collision killed Annikka Jaramillo, 20, of Murray, a passenger in the Volkswagen. Both Patrick and the driver of the Volkswagen were also injured.
