Man shot to death in West Jordan

[Update: Police say West Jordan homicide was a setup]

West Jordan police are investigating after a man was found shot to death early Thursday morning.

After receiving a report of shots fired near 7000 South and 5200 West about 2:20 a.m., officers found the dead man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, in the street. He had been shot multiple times, according to police; his identity has not yet been released.

Police believe the victim was in a black van that was parked near the intersection of Sparrowtail Road and Ticklegrass road. A second car — possibly a silver Cadillac CTS — pulled up and one person got out and fired several shots at the victim. The van rammed the Cadillac before the driver of that car fled the scene, and police are looking for a car they believe has significant damage to its back end.

Anyone with information about the shooting or the car is asked to call West Jordan police at 801-256-2000.
