A 19-year-old Latter-day Saint missionary serving in Texas died in her sleep after what church officials described as a “brief illness.”

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Katherine Pindar’s death Thursday. She is from Mesa, Ariz., and had been serving since August in the Houston East Mission.

The church said her exact caused of death hasn’t been determined.

“We are mindful of her family and loved ones,," the church said in a news release, “and pray they will feel comfort and peace at this extremely difficult time."
