The three teenage girls who ran away from a residential treatment center in Roosevelt have been found unharmed — about a mile from the facility.
Cedar Ridge Academy staff reported the girls missing at 1 a.m. Monday and Duchesne County Sheriff’s deputies searched for them unsuccessfully throughout the day. With nightfall approaching Monday, deputies mustered a search and rescue team at 3 p.m. to assist in the ongoing search, according to a news release.
The missing girls — Leah Douglas, 14; Nicole “Nic” Thornton, 16; and Sitara Chavez, 16 — were found safe, according to a spokesman for Duchesne County. No further information was released.
