Cedar City police shoot and kill man in apparent domestic dispute

Cedar City police officers on Monday shot and killed a man who had been threatening his wife and her adult son, according to the Iron County Sheriff’s Office.

A report from the sheriff’s office said Cedar City officers responded to a call from the woman at about 1 p.m. Monday. When police arrived at the residence, they asked the man to come out with his hands up. The man approached the police and pointed a handgun at them. That’s when police shot the man multiple times. Police administered first aid, and EMTs who arrived at the scene declared the man dead.

The Iron County Sheriff’s Office had not released the name of the dead man by Monday evening. The Iron/Garfield/Beaver Critical Incident Task Force is investigating the shooting.
