Latter-day Saints announce the site of a new temple in Layton

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced the location of its new Layton Temple — it will be built on an 11.8-acre site located at the corner of Oak Hills Drive and Rosewood Lane.

The temple was announced by President Russel M. Nelson at the church’s April 2018 general conference.

The three-story structure will be approximately 87,000 feet, although plans for the temple are not yet complete and no date for the groundbreaking has been set. According to the Salt Lake City-based faith, it is working with Layton officials on preliminary plans and will begin filing public documents in the coming months.

The Layton Temple, along with three announced for Tooele County, Washington County and Saratoga Springs, will bring the total number of Latter-day Saint temples in Utah to 21.
