Weber County: Evidence worker allegedly under the influence

Ogden • Weber County officials say investigations are underway in the wake of the firing of a Sheriff’s Office evidence room employee who allegedly was “under the influence” at work.

The Sheriff’s Office is conducting an internal investigation while another investigation is being conducted by the County Attorney’s Office.

The worker was not a sworn law-enforcement officer.

The Standard-Examiner newspaper reports that the Sheriff’s Office didn’t say what substance the employee was believed to be under the influence of, provide specifics on what behavior prompted the firing or say when the incident occurred.

Sheriff’s Lt. Matt. Jensen says audit team is examining all evidence in the room for possible contamination.
