Mark your calendars and break out the caviar: “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City” is coming back this fall.
The Bravo reality series, which follows the friendships and hardships of a group of prosperous Utah women, will have its Season 7 premiere on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. or 9 p.m. Mountain time (depending on what cable or satellite service you use).
Bravo also released the first teaser trailer for the new season, which hints at some highlights — a St. Patrick’s Day trip to San Francisco, another trip to Hawaii, a dinner party where fortune cookies seem tailor-made, a new romance for one cast member, the apparent end of at least one cast member’s marriage.
The new season will feature the same seven “Real Housewives” cast members who were featured last season — Lisa Barlow, Mary Cosby, Heather Gay, Angie Katsanevas, Meredith Marks, Bronwyn Newport and Whitney Rose — and “friend” Britani Bateman.
Joining the group is a new “friend,” Ashley Quai (referred to on camera as “Quai,” pronounced “kw-eye”), a Utah native who is shown in the trailer dismounting a motorcycle in front of A Bar Named Sue in Midvale. In the trailer, Barlow describes Quai as “fierce” and “bold.” However, Barlow adds, “she’s friends with Whitney, but we’ve all had lapses in judgment.”
Not mentioned in Bravo’s news release Thursday or the trailer is former cast member Jen Shah, who was released from federal prison in December after serving 2½ years for a telemarketing fraud scheme. Andy Cohen, the franchise’s creator and executive producer, has said in interviews he doesn’t want Shah back on the show.
Here, according to Bravo’s news release, are what each of the cast members is doing this season:
• Lisa Barlow spent the summer on the “Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip” on Bravo, and is back home having “an emotional heart-to-heart with her husband, John,” and seeing her son, Jack, return from his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Bravo says Barlow is pursuing a music career, though “one of her songs ruffles feathers within the group.”
• Mary Cosby is still recovering from the death of her 23-year-old son, Robert Cosby Jr., in February. (Bravo delayed filming on the new season because of his death.) According to Bravo, “Mary finds solace in Robert Sr., her faith and the path ahead,” while also resolving feuds with other cast members.
• Heather Gay is celebrating her “Jupiter year” (which, in astrological terms, happens every 12 years or so), and a new boyfriend, Tripp. She’s also looking to mend fences with Barlow and Marks, Bravo says.
• Angie Katsanevas “may be growing apart from the person she loves the most,” Bravo says. People magazine reported in July that a source said Katsanevas and Shawn Trujillo, her husband and business partner in the Lunatic Fringe salon chain, had separated after 27 years of marriage.
• Meredith Marks, fresh off her tour as a DJ, is launching a caviar lounge. Bravo says her children are part of the business, though her husband, Seth Marks, is “hesitant about mixing family and business.”
• Bronwyn Newport is starting life without her husband, tech investor Todd Bradley; she revealed their separation at the Season 6 reunion, and the Season 7 trailer shows an acrimonious meeting between them. The trailer also shows Newport dating a model named Brandon.
• Whitney Rose, Bravo says, “is on a journey of self-reflection and is making major changes in her life.” E! News and Page Six reported in July that Rose and her husband, Justin Rose, had separated after 16 years of marriage.
• Britani Bateman appears to be finally done with on-again, off-again boyfriend Jared Osmond; Bravo uses the words “allegedly out of the picture.” This season, Bravo says, “she’s determined to bring some positivity and fun to the group, but things go awry as her pot-stirring ways continue.”
Season 7 is expected to air Wednesday nights on Bravo, with each episode streaming on Peacock beginning on Thursdays.
