No. 20 Utah women’s basketball team routs Oregon 70-48

Utes have big advantage from 3-point range in victory.

The No. 20 University of Utah women’s basketball team defeated Oregon 70-48 on Sunday at the Huntsman Center for its seventh win in its past nine games.

Jenna Johnson led the Utes with 20 points, while Matyson Wilke scored 17, and Alissa Pili added 16. Ines Vieira had 10 assists for Utah (18-7, 8-5 Pac-12).

The game was a back-and-forth battle before Johnson made a 3-pointer to ignite a 9-0 Utah run late in the first quarter.

Phillipina Kyei scored 15 points and Grace VanSlooten had 14 for Oregon (11-14, 2-10 Pac-12).

Utah went 12 for 34 from 3-point range in the game, while Oregon was just 1 for 8.

Oregon cut its deficit to four points, 40-37, midway through the third quarter before Utah pulled away to lead 52-41 at the end of the period. The Utes then dominated the fourth quarter 18-7.

Utah bounced back from a loss to Oregon State on Friday. The Utes’ only two losses in their past nine games came at the hands of the Beavers.

The Utes are scheduled to host Colorado on Friday (6 p.m., Pac-12 Networks) to wrap up a three-game homestand.
