Eugene, Ore. • The Utah women’s basketball team opened the season at No. 10 Oregon Sunday, and quickly found out it was overmatched.
The Ducks scored 12 unanswered points to open the game, and cruised to an 85-43 victory.
The Utes committed 13 turnovers in the opening half, so they never really gave themselves a chance. They shot just 29 percent from the floor and a woeful 15 percent from the 3-point line for the afternoon.
Niyah Becker led Utah with 11 points, while freshman Kennady McQueen scored 8 points in her Ute debut.
Utah closes out the season-opening road trip on Tuesday at Oregon State.
