Utah State has accepted a bid to play the Memphis Tigers in the First Responder Bowl. The game is scheduled for Dec. 27 on the Southern Methodist University Campus in Dallas.

After winning the Mountain West championship a year ago, the Aggies started the season a disappointing 1-4.

But after an injury ended quarterback Logan Bonner’s season, Cooper Legas took over and helped USU find its stride, winning five of its final seven games to get bowl eligible for the 10th time since 2011.

The Tigers, led by quarterback Seth Henigan, also finished the season with a 6-6 record.

The First Responder Bowl has been played since 2012.

The Aggies are the third Mountain West team to play in the game (UNLV in 2013, Air Force in 2021). It will be the second time a team from the Beehive State has been represented in the bowl: the University of Utah beat West Virginia in 2017.
