What Alabama football coach Nick Saban said about the Utah State Aggies

Alabama football coach Nick Saban is no stranger to winning.

So when Saban — he of the seven national championships — says anything about an opposing team, it matters just a little more. And Saban had plenty to say about the Utah State Aggies (1-0), who play No. 1 Alabama on Saturday in Tuscaloosa.

Here’s what Saban said Monday about the Aggies in advance of their game.

On Utah State quarterback Logan Bonner

“Quarterback is back, who is a really good player.”

On Aggies coach Blake Anderson

“Blake Anderson has done a really good job there. This team can play really in any conference and do well.”

On USU’s style of play

“They were one of the most effective passing teams in the country a year ago. These guys are very aggressive on defense. They create a lot of negative plays. They get a lot of turnovers.”

On what he expects to see from the Aggies

“I fully expect this team to come here, having played a game or not played a game, and look at this as a tremendous opportunity to sort of say who they are as a team in terms of how they play. I don’t think their motivation is going to be anything but stellar in terms of how they come in to look at and approach playing us here in Tuscaloosa.”

On Alabama’s mindset preparing for the Aggies

“This is really kind of about us and how we prepare to play and what we need to do against a really good opponent.”
