Real Salt Lake lets win slip away in draw with LA Galaxy

Chicho Arango scores twice, but RSL gives up two second-half goals, including one in final seconds of 2-2 tie

Real Salt Lake extended its Major League Soccer unbeaten streak to eight games with a 2-2 draw against the LA Galaxy on Saturday night in Carson, Calif., but let a win slip from its grasp.

The Galaxy’s Miguel Berry scored the equalizer with seconds remaining in extra time as LA salvaged the draw after trailing 2-0 at halftime.

RSL’s Chicho Arango scored two goals, raising his season total to 11. Arango scored in the 20th minute with an assist from Alexandros Katranis, and in the 40th minute with assists from Andres Gomez and Matt Crooks.

On the second goal, every RSL player touched the ball as they moved toward the goal.


Gabriel Pec scored in the 54th minute for the Galaxy (5-2-5) to cut LA’s deficit to 2-1.

RSL (6-2-4 in MLS play) was coming off a 4-2 loss to New Mexico United in U.S. Open Cup play on Wednesday night.

Real Salt Lake, still in first place in the Western Conference, will return to action against the Seattle Sounders on Wednesday at America First Field in Sandy (7:30 p.m., Apple TV).
