“The Destroyer” is set to join Utah Royals FC this upcoming season.

The Royals announced Monday the commitment of Canadian national team player Desiree Scott. The holding midfielder, with one of the most intimidating nicknames in the league, came to the Royals from defunct FC Kansas City when all of its players’ rights were assigned to the new club in November. She is the second federation player from that group to commit to Utah, following United States women’s national team player Becky Sauerbrunn.

“Desiree is a proven talent in the league,” Royals coach Laura Harvey said in a team release. “She is the glue to any team she plays for. Her performances last season and throughout her career to this point were excellent, and I’m so excited she will be part of our team this season.”

Scott, 30, has earned 129 caps with Canada. She made her senior national team debut at 22 years old and finished that year with a CONCACAF championship. The two-time bronze medalist received her nickname, which describes her physical style of play, during the 2012 Olympic qualifying tournament.

Scott joined FC Kansas City in the league’s inaugural 2013 season and played every minute of the Blues’ 22-match schedule. She spent the next two seasons in England playing for Notts County. Scott returned to the NWSL and Kansas City for the 2016 season.

“I am very excited about the new adventure ahead with the Utah Royals,” Scott said in a team release. “I feel very fortunate to be a part of a club that wants to do amazing things, not only in the NWSL but for the women’s game. I look forward to getting out there to see what Utah and the soccer community is all about — but more importantly, excited to get to work with my teammates for the 2018 season.”
