Utah Royals’ Kelley O’Hara named to the Women’s World 11 team

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Kelley O'Hara, shakes hands with Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupskie, as she is given a key to the city, as the Mayor honors Royals FC, and US National Women's soccer team players, Christen Press, Becky Sauerbrunn and Kelley O'Hara, during a ceremony honoring her for them for their part in the US National Women's World Cup win, at the City and County Building, Monday, July 22, 2019.

Kelley O’Hara has been selected to the 2019 FIFPRo Women’s World 11. It’s her first-ever selection to the team.

O’Hara, who plays defender for the Utah Royals FC, was on the short list for the accolade along with teammate Becky Sauerbrunn. Both played for the United States Women’s National Team that won the FIFA Women’s World Cup over the summer.

O’Hara has won two Women’s World Cup championships and an Olympic gold medal in her career. She’s played for the Royals since the franchise’s inception in 2018.

The World 11 is voted on annually by professional soccer players all over the world. They pick who they think are the best 11 players in the world — one goalkeeper, four defenders, three midfielders and three forwards — and submit their ballots to FIFPro, the worldwide representative organization for all pro soccer players.
