Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George wants Rookie of the Year award

George was picked No. 16 overall by the Jazz in the 2023 draft.

(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George (3) looks down court past the 76ers defense during an NBA Summer League basketball game Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

Utah Jazz rookie guard Keyonte George comes into his first NBA season with some hype. He was selected 16th overall in the 2023 draft, and already has teammates raving about him based on either what they saw from him at Baylor or what he’s shown in voluntary summer workouts.

But George showed his competitive side Monday during Media Day when he talked about what expectations he has set for his rookie year.

“Of course, for myself, I set really high goals,” George said. “I want to be Rookie of the Year.”

No. 1 pick and San Antonio Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama has the best odds to win the Rookie of the Year award, per Vegas Insider. George is considered a long shot for the award, with his odds at anywhere between plus-3,000 to plus-10,000.
