Weekly Run podcast: How Jazz did in free agency, and what we learned from summer league

Utah Jazz's Derrick Favors walks off following an NBA basketball media availability with Dante Exum and Raul Neto, Friday, July 6, 2018, in Salt Lake City. Undergoing a roster makeover did not fit with what the Jazz have planned for the upcoming season. Rather than spend time and money trying to make a splash by bringing a high-profile free agent, the Jazz chose a different route announcing the free agent signings of Exum, Favors and Neto. All things must come to an end — except apparently Las Vegas Summer League.

But while players soldier on through Vegas, we take the opportunity to discuss the team’s conservative moves during free agency, what free agents 2019 might hold and what we’ve learned about key summer league players on Weekly Run, the Tribune’s podcast about the Utah Jazz. Also, on Kyle’s final show, Tony feels abandoned and isn’t shy about expressing it.

Here’s a rundown of this week’s podcast:

At 2:50 • The Jazz had a plan to retain their team, and they executed it well. Was that a good strategy?

At 5:15 • What do Derrick Favors and Dante Exum need to do to fulfill their contracts?

At 11:10 • A quick overview of the incredible potential free agent class of 2019 (and who the Jazz could get).

At 15:00 • Close encounters with Jimmy Butler and Woj.

At 19:00 • Parsing why the Jazz didn’t keep Jonas Jerebko.

At 20:50 • What we learned about Grayson Allen, Tony Bradley and Georges Niang in Summer League.
