Three Utah Royals FC players have been named to the U.S. Women’s National Team qualifying roster for the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Becky Sauerbrunn, Christen Press and Kelley O’Hara were all chosen to compete on the 20-player squad. Each of them played on the 2016 team that finished fifth, the lowest result in USWNT Olympic history.
The Royals trio were also on the USWNT squad that won the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Should the national team qualify, it would be the third Olympics for Sauerbrunn and O’Hara and the second for Press. Sauerbrunn and O’Hara won gold in 2012.
The USWNT starts the tournament on Jan. 28 against Haiti.
