Tabernacle Choir delays overseas tour until next year

The Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square got a new name 18 months ago, a new logo last week and was poised to launch a tour of Scandinavia and the British Isles in late June, but that trip has been pushed back a year.

A news release Monday said the 2021 performances will include all the same cities planned for the original heritage tour. The shows were set for Stockholm, Sweden; Helsinki, Finland; Copenhagen, Denmark; Oslo, Norway; Cardiff, Wales; and Edinburgh, Scotland.

Details of the revised dates, the release said, will be published in the next few weeks.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the renowned choir of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints did not perform live earlier this month at the faith’s General Conference, which was seen virtually rather than in person. The musical numbers by the choir had been prerecorded.

For its weekly performances of “Music and the Spoken Word” — the longest continuously running network broadcast in radio history — the choir has been airing reruns.
