Dear Utah U.S. senators and representatives:

I would ask you today, when you have a moment, to ask yourself, and to honestly answer this question: Where do your highest loyalties currently lie?

1. To an individual person, who has demonstrated that he has no loyalty to truth, and whose corruption is spreading like a cancer through the political body of the United States?

2. To a political party under the spell of the person mentioned above; a party who is giving away the power that we the people have entrusted to them; a party that is standing aside, hands in pockets, unwilling to act, as the greatest democratic experiment in history is torn apart from the inside?

3. To the Constitution of the United States, to which you have solemnly sworn an oath, a Constitution which your own church has taught you is divinely inspired?

You must make a choice. The good and honorable people of the world are watching, history will record, and your God will ultimately judge these times and the players in them.

I hope you will have the wisdom and the courage to “do what is right, and let the consequence follow.”

Richard Coleman Jr., Murray

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
