I hate wearing a mask. It sometimes makes me feel like I’m suffocating, so why do I wear a mask when I go out to public places? Solidarity. I look at the dedicated workers when I go to a restaurant, grocery shopping, home repair shopping or clothes shopping, and I am awed by their dedication. They wear a mask eight or more hours a day to ensure the public feels safe and protected.
I wear a mask even though it might not help keep me from getting sick, even though I don’t feel sick and even though it is mildly inconvenient because I want those serving me to know that I appreciate them, I admire them and I stand with them through all of this.
