Letter: No more Amazon membership
(Michel Spingler | AP file photo) Employees observe social distancing due to coronavirus, at the entrance of Amazon, in Douai, northern France, on April 9, 2020.
I finally canceled my Amazon Prime membership. I can no longer, in good conscience, support a company that is firing employees for asking for basic protections against a pandemic.
Amazon employees are putting their lives on the line to bring products to our homes and they deserve to be backed up by the behemoth that is Amazon.
I had already been feeling it was time to move on when I learned about the horrible conditions warehouse workers were employed under, but ease and convenience won out.
I no longer have the luxury of putting their suffering out of mind as I think about their safety every time a package comes to my house. So I did it. I canceled. If enough people cancel, maybe Amazon will be forced to review their policies.
