Letter: Don’t judge people in parks

(Trent Nelson | The Salt Lake Tribune) People observing social distancing in Sugar House Park in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

I would like to take exception to Luana Chapman’s letter of April 11.

Many of us have been advised to walk daily for our health and so continue to frequent various parks and walking trails. Although there may be several cars parked at these locations, we have only noticed individuals, maybe a couple, sometimes a family letting their children get some exercise. Not once have we seen large gatherings.

If you meet someone else on the trails, everyone practices social distancing, maybe a nod, but never a stop to visit.

Maybe if Luana Chapman had stopped at the parks and observed a bit, she would have seen that there are not groups gathering, just one or two people enjoying the fresh air, keeping their distance, remembering that once in the past, we were able to join others, and hoping that we will once again be able to enjoy others' company.
