Letter: Trump divides America

(Jacquelyn Martin | AP file photo) President Donald Trump speaks at a campaign rally in North Charleston, S.C., on Friday, Feb. 28, 2020.

The divisiveness in our country is continuing to increase. There was a time when we could “agree to disagree” and still maintain some level of respect toward each other.

Donald Trump has changed this. He is continuing to do everything he possibly can to grow this chasm of division with his personal attacks, and even dismissal, of anyone that does not support his views. His followers have donned blinders and are stepping into line accordingly.

About the only thing missing is a Donald Trump salute. Stay tuned.

sltrib.com is now free to access — no subscription required. We made this decision because we believe access to trustworthy, independent news shouldn’t depend on what you can afford — especially as misinformation and AI-generated content continue to rise.

Free to read doesn’t mean free to produce. Our reporters show up every day to ask hard questions and hold powerful institutions to account. That work takes resources.
