Letter: Utah should worry about economic inequality
(Jeremy Harmon | Tribune file photo) Utah's individual income tax return form.
Utah’s legislative efforts to reform taxes bring to mind Isaiah’s words, “This people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me.”
Legislators have worked for decades to restructure Utah’s taxes in a regressive manner, even as they dismantle existing social safety nets and refuse to accept federal funds to expand Medicaid for working Utahns.
Expanding economic inequality is something we should all be concerned about.
