Letter: Kurds did our fighting for us
(Emrah Gurel | AP) Children wave to a Turkish forces truck transporting armored personnel carriers at the border with Syria in Karkamis, Gaziantep province, southeastern Turkey, Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019. Turkey defied growing condemnation from its NATO allies to press ahead with its invasion of northern Syria on Tuesday, shelling suspected Kurdish positions near the border amid reports that Syrian Kurds had retaken a key town.
President Trump justified his betrayal of Kurd forces by saying “the Kurds didn’t help us in World War II.”
Get real! Germany clearly didn’t help us in World War II, either.
Times change. Germany is our ally now.
We were very fortunate to have the Kurds be willing to do the heavy fighting to retake ISIS-held towns. Now we strand them as they get attacked. I fear ISIS may rise again without Kurdish help, then who will we call on for help?
