Letter: Utah clings to worn-out industries
(Christopher Cherrington | The Salt Lake Tribune)
How many people, states and counties somewhat more enlightened than Emery County would think it a good thing for a long-closed coal mine to reopen, offering 400 jobs to further degrade the environment?
Utah stubbornly embraces the past while bypassing chances to create a better future with new jobs in clean energy.
Voters, it is you who enable Utah’s dismal death grip on the past and worn-out industries when you elect the same old, same old politicians who continue to lead by promoting industries that foul our lives rather than taking the initiative to do something smart by promoting job growth in cleaner industries.
Wake up.
