Letter: Romney’s Red Badge of Courage

(Francisco Kjolseth | Tribune file photo) Sen. Mitt Romney speaks with the editorial board of the Salt Lake Tribune on Aug. 21, 2019.

Does Mitt Romney’s non-endorsement of President Trump qualify the senator for a Red Badge of Courage?

If Utah Tea-Party Trumpublicans pick up on Romney’s betrayal of party ideals, he will surely deserve at least a Purple Heart. Or an Academy Award for Best Non-Supporting Actor.

Leeward Trumpublicans will doubtless demand Romney’s hide for his valiant act of mini-disloyalty.

I can hardly wait for the next printing of the Republican versions of “Profiles in Courage” and “Portraits of Infamy.” The thin book and the fat book should both be fun reads.
