Letter: Trump really meant ‘Make America White Again’

(Butch Dill | AP Photo) In this Nov. 6, 2018, a man wears a hat with President President Donald Trump's campaign slogan in Montgomery, Ala.

When Donald Trump started his campaign for the presidency, his slogan was “Make America Great Again.”

I wondered, “Again? Is he implying that America is not great?” As far as I was aware, America was continuing to be a great country, with the highest democratic ideals, a robust economy, thriving scientific advancement and creative innovation in industry and the arts. Why would he think that America was not great?

With his recent racist tweets and statements, I have now realized that “Make America Great Again,” was just a code for his real agenda, and that is, “Make America White Again.” He wants to return to an undemocratic, oppressive, pre-Civil War, pre-civil rights, society.

All the Trump supporters who are proudly wearing their MAGA hats, should trade those hats in for hats that say “MAWA.” Then at least they will be truthful.
