Letter: What part of ‘illegal’ doesn’t Stewart understand?

(Steve Griffin | The Salt Lake Tribune) Rep. Chris Stewart, R-Utah, makes his opening remarks during his town hall meeting at the West Valley City Hall in West Valley City Wednesday May 2, 2018.

Rarely does anything Rep. Chris Stewart says surprise me, but telling CNN that it would be “foolish” to turn down information from a foreign government about an election opponent, and further stating that the legality of doing so would depend upon whether the information is “credible.” takes the cake.

The head of the Federal Election Commission has made it perfectly clear that doing so under any circumstance is a violation of federal election laws.

I have two questions for Stewart. First, what part of federal law don’t you understand? And, secondly, at long last, sir, have you lost all respect for the rule of law?

What a sorry, sad and dangerous moment our nation has reached.
