Letter: Is Mike Lee losing his soul?

(Tom Williams | CQ Roll Call via AP file photo) Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, attends a markup of the Senate Judiciary Committee in Dirksen Building on Sept. 13, 2018.

In regard to the May 1 Salt Lake Tribune article, “Lee goes on offensive at hearing”:

I know we tend to see what we want to see. While I disagree with what he is saying and doing, I see that Attorney General William Barr is a master at subterfuge and cover-up. No less a conservative than writer William Safire called him “General Cover Up” for his service during the Reagan administration.

What I also see is that Sen. Mike Lee desperately wants a seat on the Supreme Court. However, as a constituent, I implore Lee to heed the words of a number of other prominent Republicans, such as Robert Mueller in the special counsel’s report and in his letter to Barr disagreeing with Barr’s depiction of the Mueller Report and its findings.

Or of James Comey, another longtime Republican, who shared this observation of those who have protected and profited from the actions of this president: “And then you are lost. He has eaten your soul.”
