Letter: Huntsman should become governor again

(Trent Nelson | Tribune file photo) Jon Huntsman Jr., seen here in 2008 while he was Utah's Governor, may again seek the office.

I read the article in the April 8 Salt Lake Tribune, “Jon Huntsman is exploring a return to Utah and possibly another run for governor.”

I met former Gov. Jon Huntsman in 2007, when he was the incumbent governor, at his office in the Capitol. I found him to be knowledgeable, courteous and a firm decision-maker. If he should run again for governor, I hope he'd win.

He is an extremely qualified candidate. He has impeccable credentials from past ambassadorships to Singapore, China and, currently, to Russia. Additionally, he has held other posts and, most importantly, Huntsman already “knows the ropes” of being governor.

If anybody is ready on Day 1 to take over as governor, it’s Jon Huntsman.
