Letter: Check your privileges, BYU football team
(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Brigham Young Cougars offensive lineman Jacob Jimenez (70) celebrates as Brigham Young running back Matt Hadley (2) scores a touchdown for the Cougars, in football action between the Brigham Young Cougars and the Utah Utes, at Rice-Eccles Stadium, Saturday, November 24, 2018.
So, the Brigham Young University football team is going to play on a “crappy” blue turf in the Dec. 21 Famous Potato Bowl at Boise State University. Let’s review your status:
You play for a private school, with no financial challenges, endowed for all time.
Most of you student athletes are compensated with tuition, room and meals.
Your bowl game will have a national viewing audience, thanks to your affiliation with ESPN.
So be grateful and humble. Most colleges and student athletes never get the opportunities afforded you.
