Letter: Why didn’t Rep. Stewart support paying the military during shutdown?
(Francisco Kjolseth | The Salt Lake Tribune) Congressman Chris Stewart visits the majority caucus meeting on day two of the 2018 legislative session on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018.
Rep. Chris Stewart says he supports the military. So recently, when Sen. Mitch McConnell objected to hearing a resolution (from a Democrat) that would continue pay for the military through a government shutdown, you would think Stewart would have released a statement denouncing McConnell’s cowardly, partisan act.
Silence. Stewart didn’t say a word.
In the past, Stewart has showered our military with praise. “Thank them. Keep them and their families in our prayers. What we have asked to them to do isn’t easy. They deserve our gratitude and support.”
Apparently he doesn’t believe they deserve to be paid.
