Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis gave the keynote address of the Utah Republican Party’s 2023 organizing convention on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

A potential 2024 GOP presidential candidate, DeSantis spoke of the political battles his administration is spearheading in Florida — which led to applause and ovations from Utah GOP delegates. The governor also compared the Sunshine State to the Beehive State.

“Utah is one of the best-governed states in the United States,” DeSantis said to a loud cheer from delegates. “Utah, like Florida, is where freedom works. Maybe Florida is the Utah of the southeast,” DeSantis added.
