Ready to ride? Here’s when Utah’s ski resorts open for 2025–26

Brian Head Resort expected to kick off the season Nov. 7, but weather and snow have been wildcards.

(Rick Egan | The Salt Lake Tribune) Opening day at Park City Mountain Resort, on Friday, Nov 22, 2024.

Update: Nov. 17, 2025, 6 p.m. • This article has been updated to reflect the anticipated opening dates as of Nov. 17.

For some rabid skiers and snowboarders — like Sean and Abby Phillips of Park City, who admitted on Instagram that they may be “living in delusion” for seeking out the 8 inches of powder at Alta Ski Area last weekend — the 2025-26 season has already begun. For others, who ski year-round, it never ended.

Then, there’s the rest of us.

If you’re among those who are eagerly anticipating the start of ski season, but not so much that you’re willing to hike a mountain and risk pockmarking your skis for it, good news awaits. Lifts will begin hauling skiers at some Utah resorts within a month’s time, so long as nature cooperates. And within two months, more than half of the state’s ski areas should be open for business.

For those willing to wait — and those more ambitious types, too — here are the estimated opening dates for all 16 Utah ski areas. All dates are tentative, depending on weather temperatures and snowfall.
