Here is when Utah resorts will say goodbye to the 2024-25 ski season

A third of the state’s 15 ski areas have closed for the 2024-25 season. The rest have plans to keep the party going.

Scott Sommerdorf | The Salt Lake Tribune Skiers enjoyed the spring conditions on the last day of skiing at Park City Sunday, April 10, 2016. The resort plans to extend the 2024-25 season to April 21. Four Utah ski areas expect to be open in May.

Anyone watching the NCAA basketball championships over the past month has probably heard the term “spring sadness.” It’s when a fan’s team gets knocked out of the tournament and won’t be seen on the court again for months.

Skiers and snowboarders experience a similar phenomenon this time of year. For them, this version of seasonal affective disorder (SAD) comes along when their favorite ski area shutters its winter operations and they realize it will likely be at least six months before they are sliding down the snow again.

The bad news is that “spring sadness” is being felt right now by regulars of a third of Utah’s ski areas, which have already closed the book on the 2024-25 season. Another few waves are expected throughout April, according to resort spokespeople and websites.

The good news, however, is that some Utah resorts plan to take this season into overtime, with closing dates tentatively set for mid-May — or beyond.

Here are the planned 2024-25 closing dates* for each of Utah’s 15 ski areas, as well as deals and events to look for in the waning days:
